Based on the belief that no single organization alone has the ability to solve our most challenging problems, communities and organizations around the world are adopting a different mindset to achieve large-scale systemic change through collective impact. In addition to sharing a common agenda with mutually-agreed to measurements, the collective impact efforts that are most successful have a separate, dedicated group serving as the backbone for the entire initiative. Funded by local foundations, businesses and philanthropists, the role of the backbone organization for Commit includes connecting, coordinating and convening participating organizations, providing data analysis, disseminating national and local research and continuously communicating across the many players in this effort.
